I managed to pick up a very cheap TT01 of Ebay. Whilst browsing the site at lunchtime, I noticed a rolling chassis, with hardly any bids, and it was going to cost less than £20 including shipping. So I thought I would put in a cheeky bid, and before I had finished my sandwich I was the proud owner of a TT01!
The initial plan was to use it as a basher, I just wanted a solid car that I could take out onto the street and mess about with, not fearing scratching the carbon chassis, or getting stones in the belt.
I didn't have high expectations for the car, but the car I received was already Ballraced and had the Hop-up aluminium prop shaft. I quickly popped in some old brushed electronics (Black can, and std esc) and took it out for a drive.
I was actually quite impressed, the car felt quite neutral, the rear end was planted and it was easy to weave about on the street, dodging the drains and gutters.
I then let my lad have a go, and again, he was able to drive the car easily, and we had a great time sliding on the tarmac once it started to rain (Again no fears of water breaking any delicate electronics).
After about 2 hours of bashing including some mighty crashes, and a few over confident jumps it was time to come indoors.
The TT01 was still 100% working with no issues. That's testament to why its become such a popular chassis for the masses.
So as always happens, after a month or so, I decided to have a closer look and see if there are any tweaks that can be done to the car to make handle any better. And I will take it to my local club and see what improvements, are possible without breaking the bank. I have to admit I have grown quite a soft spot for this car, after being maybe a little over dismissive about it in the past.

I too, have a fondness for this chassis. Very simple, very durable, lots of aftermarket support. Do you have any updates on your adventure with this one?
