Check out these close up photos of the new Tamiya M07 Chassis posted from Tamiya USA. We are really excited about this car and according to reports from a few lucky people who have driven the car, the car takes M-Chassis handling to a new level.
The chassis has been designed under the same principles as the excellent TA07. The monocoque chassis is more rigid and durable than the M05.
The car comes with a sealed oil gear differential. Another massive improvement from the M05. A geardiff is one of the most desired hop-up for mini racing.
The M07 can take pinions from 17-24T with the following gear ratios suitable for stock racing:
- 17T - 6.795:1
- 18T - 6.418:1
- 19T - 6.080:1
- 20T - 5.776:1
- 21T - 5.501:1
- 22T - 5.251:1
- 23T - 5.023:1
- 24T - 4.813:1
The chassis has also been designed for easy maintenance and you can easily get to the differential without having to dismantle the whole chassis like the earlier cars. Just these 4 screws :)
The rear end had a toe system. These can be adjusted by adding shims. The kit setting is with 2 shims and sets the rear toe to 3.2 degress. 1 shim = 2.6 degrees and no shims = 2 degrees. Rear Toe is a great way to tune the cars so it is good to see that the M07 allows you to easily change it.
Camber and roll centres can be adjusted easily now as the M07 shares a lot with a racing Touring car. Again this is a massive boost in making this car the ultimate base for a cost effective one class series. The inclusion of a bumper is also a bonus, especially as M-Chassis is a popular stock class for beginners and pros alike.
The servo is mounted low and at the rear in a similar manner than the M05.
This is the M07concept with all of the day 1 hop-ups added. These photos have made me want to get my hands on one of these even more. The release date is the 25th June so we will not have long to wait :)
