58721 Tamiya Fiat Abarth MB-01 photos and chassis details (Updated)

This new M-chassis car is really a replacement for the M05 and M06. (Not the M07 and M08 which are race orientated chassis).  This is a fully adaptable M-Chassis that is able to be built in either front or rear wheel drive. It also allows you to run a range of different wheelbases..

If you look at this, it gives you more info on the layouts. You can see that it has a centrally mounted gearbox. I really hope that this will have an option to change the spur gear.. Importantly you can see that it has a shaft drive to the gearbox. I would be very surprised if this is not a TT02 diff in the gearbox. This will allow you to run spools, oil sealed geardiffs etc. Superb!

Here you can see the rear wheel drive layout. The loooong turnbuckle is there for the steering. The battery is now moved forward to compensate.

Interestingly the front and rear arms are the same. This allows you to easily change the rear toe-in and hopefully we can even adjust it to have some additive rear toe with spacers etc.

This chassis has a lot of potential to be a very good little spec class runner.  Another great chassis that I cannot wait to get my hands on at some point :)

Here is the car in the Rear wheel drive configuration. You can see the shaft going to the rear gearbox

You can fit square lipos in this chassis :) The motor can also be raised for the RWD configuration.

The arms here are similar in concept to a TT02 style chassis. Note the new style friction shocks as well.

Here are the details from Tamiya

58721 1/10 R/C Fiat Abarth 1000 TCR Berlina Corse (MB-01)

We are delighted to announce that our M-chassis series welcomes a brand new chassis.

The origin of M-chassis series history goes back to December 1994, and this series has been popular due to cost-effective kits with a wide choice of bodies, ease of maintenance and control for any users, great 2WD performance and rigidity.

The new MB-01 chassis continues that tradition, and allows six setups by choosing from three types of wheelbase, and front- or rear- wheel drive system. Its first body recreates the Fiat Abarth 1000 TCR Berlina Corse which was a car developed with high level tune-ups based upon the compact 2-door Fiat 600. The muscular form had front and rear over fenders, a large radiator cover integrated with the front bumper, and horizontally-opened engine hood. A 982cc inline-4 engine capable of over 110hp underpinned its powerful performance.

About the Model
