Round 3 of the Xray Sponsored Rug Racers XRS took place on Sunday the 21st of January, packed full of action across the table including plenty of new and returning faces! All 3 classes saw tight and exciting competition from top to bottom from FTQ qualifying to the 2 leg finals!

Our 4.5FDR MB RIDE front wheel drive class saw a strong handful of drivers new to frontie for the Rug racers 23/24 season, sprinkling even more competition into the already very tough championship! After 4 very close qualifying sessions at the sharp end, Jamie Hickin would take his 3rd TQ of this Rug Racers season only 0.2 seconds clear of Darren Lee in second and 2 seconds ahead of Sam Jones in 3rd! As well as this, the tight competition of the frontie field was only separated by 2 seconds from 4th to 10th! In the first leg final, Jamie Hickin was able to pull away from the rest of the field with Darren Lee in hot pursuit. After a close battle between the two Jamie was able to keep the door closed to win the first leg. In the second leg, an early mistake from Darren would allow Jamie to pull away and take a comfortable win 5 seconds ahead of the rest of the field and the win for the day.

The overall top 10 in frontier for the day was as followed:

  1. Jamie Hickin
  2. Sam Jones
  3. Darren Lee
  4. Mason Weston
  5. Will Everett
  6. Charlie Colby
  7. Ethan Southall
  8. Mark Caton
  9. Mark Young
  10. Alex Everett

17.5 RUSH Stock saw another exciting day where Billy Fletcher was able to comfortable take TQ by 10 seconds over the close battle for 2nd between Mason Weston and Will Everett where the two would be separated by just 3 tenths! Both finals would see Billy pull away to take the overall win while leg 1 would allow a very close battle for second between Mason and Will where Mason was able to keep tight to the corners, providing Will no opportunity to pass where they would finish 2 tenths apart! Leg 2 would begin similarly to the first with a close battle between 2nd and 3rd, however a small mistake from Will would push him further down the field to allow Charlie Colby the opportunity to pressure Mason for 2nd where Mason was able to successfully defend for the second time, once again finishing only 2 tenths ahead!

The finishing order for the top 10 in stock consisted of:

  1. Billy Fletcher
  2. Mason Weston
  3. Charlie Colby
  4. Will Everett
  5. Matthew Worton
  6. Liam Tyrell
  7. James Robinson
  8. Mark Wilson
  9. Sam Law
  10. Masanori Oyama

1.

Modified consisted of another exciting battle for second through the day between Daniel Robins and Matthieu Dambrine where they would eventually line up 2nd and 3rd respectively behind Elliott Harper on TQ. Similarly to stock, both finals would see the Schumacher of Elliott Harper pull away from the field to take both legs and the overall win for the day. After this, was the exciting battle for 2nd between Daniel and Matthieu  where a close first leg between them would result in Dan taking 2nd by 4 tenths. In the second leg Daniel was able to pull away slightly taking the 2nd spot by 1.5 seconds.

The final top 10 for modified for the day sat as followed:

  1. Elliott Harper
