Raced the Madrat on Thursday. It was at my local indoor track.
The car is still stock and the shock lids did pop off at the front. This seems to be a common issue when racing the Mad Rat. Its a shame as the rest of the shock assembly is good but the shock lids seem to flex when they get a large amount of force on them.(such as landing a jump not 100%) once they flex they pop off the top of the cylinder.
Its happened to most of the Mad rats that I have seen running with the std shocks. However I am resolute that I want to try it out as a stock kit so I put some glue on the caps.. (just a drop). And solved the problem. Obviously not ideal in the long run but the shocks don't leak (when the cap stays on). So it should last me a fair few race days before I have to use a knife to crack it open.
Anyway with the trackside fix sorted, I took the car out for a spin and it drove very well. Infact I won the buggy final with the car. Nice! Just goes to show what potential this £50 car has.
There are some teething troubles with the car, some people have broken T-plates, front suspension posts, and everyone seems to suffer the std shocks popping off (which in turn can lead to the turnbuckles pulling out ball cups).
I'll keep racing it this winter, although the F1 might get more races as a few guys at my local club are interested in it, and will post any further progress.
