Get in!!
Was all set for the second final. My old tyres were looking pretty sad, I was told they would probably rip if I used them again.
I had the dilemma, fit the new tyres, which still needed running in, or risk the grained tyres which had been gripping well throughout the day.. Memories of Hamiltons pit incident in singapore crossed my mind.
but the old adage of 'if it ain't broke' haunted me so I stuck with what I had for the last final.
The race started cleanly and we all raced smoothly around the track. I was always under threat from second place so had to pull out one of the best races of my life as I knew that one collision with the barrier would cost me the position and possibly the race.
I took safer lines than normal only nailing a lap when second place entered my peripheral vision.
This tactic worked and I managed to hold on to take victory with 22 laps which was my fastest time of the day :)
So a great days racing. I did feel like I was the only Tamiya blue amongst the tide of X-ray orange, but the car was spot on today and was so consistent over the full 5 minutes that I couldn't fault it.
Also the whole day was a pleasure. The BIWS is such a friendly event, a top days racing.
Time to head home and listen to my new BT album whilst taking in the spectacular views.
I'll post my setup later on.
