Slowly we are getting back to racing, and one of the first large races was the Greek National held in Athens. Long time Tamiya racer Filippos Isaakidis was looking forward to racing the new TRF420 in anger, to see if it would provide the same success as his TRF419.  Here is his report and setp-up.
After all these hard times we come through this year we were able to race for the National Championship in the huge track of Fanatix models in Athens. This is a huge track and us Mod runners can exceed speeds of 125kph at the end of the straight.

The event didn't go exactly to plan. I experienced some bad luck and made a few mistakes (The thumbs have been a little out of practice). The level of competition was really high with some great drivers really building a lot of pressure on the race. In the end after the four qualifiers I managed to place 6th in the A main.

Before the start of the first Final I made some small changes to my setup and tweaked the tyre preparation as the temperature on the track was becoming even higher.

Here is my Race

These tweaks worked really well, and the TRF420 was superb. The Tamiya felt great and I was able to get my head down and have some great racing battles in the intense heat. I managed to maintain this focus and speed as I would work through the pack from sixth to the front in round one.

Now it was all to battle for in round 2

Again the TRF420 just felt amazing, I was able to push, but it felt very stable so I was able to not make any mistakes and again I made it from 6th to first place. Claiming my fourth National Title! (Three in a row).

My beloved TRF419 was a great car but the new TRF 420 proved that it has more speed, more durability and is easier to drive. I am really excited to spend more time with it on the track.

The electronics I've used on my Tamiya 420 were:
Muchmore Fleta Pro V2 esc
Muchmore Fleta ZX V2 4.5T motor
Muchmore Impact 5.800 mAh 7.4V batteries
KoPropo Ex-1 V3 Radio
KoPropo KR-413 Receiver
Highest Dlp650 servo.

Here is my TRF420 Mod Set-up.

Stay safe and keep racing Tamiya
