I've been working on an exhaustive guide on the TRF415 that I hope to finish in the near future.

In the meantime I thought it would be good to do a little update so show some of the unique parts that I have been creating to ensure that TRF415 racers can take their back to the race track.

The last few days have seen me create two direct centre pulley's. One for the original TRF415, and another for the TRF415MSX and later models.

I've done this as the the original Tamiya parts are very hard to acquire. Most TRF415's still have centre one-ways, this is a big disadvantage for anyone racing with brushless motors. With this in mind I decided to make 3D printed parts that will be freely available for anyone that wants to run their TRF415 at the track.

Its always quite an interesting process making these parts. For home printing you really need to always have one side that is flat. This results in me breaking the object into smaller parts that can assemble together.

The other consideration is that the material used for home printing is not as strong as moulded plastic. So I try to beef up parts where necessary. This TRF415 pulley has a larger section for the grub screw. This allows you to use a 6mm long grub screw that will add more strength where it attaches to the centre shaft.

As I am creating new versions of these items, I also took advantage and have made versions with more teeth. Along with the original 16t versions, there will be files for 18t and 20t Centre pulleys. So you can modify a TRF415 to have the same internal ratio as the TRF420 :)

After a few days and a few bodged attempts I am really happy with both of these parts. The TRF415MSX Direct pulley was a much bigger challenge and it is made up from four individual parts. It fits well, and should hold up to the loads involved in Blinky racing.

I just have to get my TRF420 ready for the MICC this weekend, but if I have more time I will show you a few other parts that will be available in the article :)
