After the Tamiya live presentation this morning we have had an in-depth look at many details of the TRF420X. Here are some of the key details. (I will update this over the day, as I watch the video again, and my hangover fades)..

The entire design is built around flex. Everything is mounted centrally.

The motor mount has been designed to ensure that the battery is closer to the centre, as the battery is the heaviest component of a race car, and many new designs have it hanging far out.

The electronics are set on a floating plate, this ensures that the flex is unaffected and a pure tuning option.

The motor mount is very unique. It is two part and it only rests along the centreline.  There are different screw mounts underneath for flex.

The fan mount is incorporated, and will be more reliable than the previous version. Look at how smart that is :)

The upper deck has a bearing that ensures you have perfect sideways flex. This can be adjusted to modify rear grip.

The rear flex plate has 5 different adjustment points. The front and rear bulkheads are also new, with more precise and robust sway bar mounts. The rear bulkhead has mounting points for the Tamiya ARS kit (Similar to the TA07MSX).

The chassis has no motor cut-out. The Aluminium chassis is available at launch (I hope it comes in the box, but happy either way).

Here is the chassis next to the TRF420. Its very unlikely that there will be an upgrade kit in my opinion as the TRF420X has so many new parts.  Even the battery mounts are new, with carbon retainers.

It's no surprise that I will be racing one of these as soon as it becomes available to me. To be honest this is so much more than I thought we would get. I was concerned that it would just be an mid motor without any real research or innovation. The end result is much more exciting to me, I believe this motor placement is much better from my experience with the TA08pro, so am happy that Tamiya has pursued their own design philosophy..

There is so much more here, take a look here
